The role

As a Data Analyst, you will collaborate with other teams across Storm and our clients to development measurement frameworks, data analytics plans and visualisations, and to carry out analysis and investigation on datasets.

You will be passionate advocate for data-driven decision making, and for helping clients and colleagues understand and utilise the stories told by data.


About you

You will have some experience with understanding and visualising data. Ideally, you will already be familiar with Google Analytics 4 and Looker Studio, or alternatively Microsoft Fabric and PowerBI. You want to extend this knowledge across both these groups, assisting with both performance analytics and data analysis functions. You’ll be highly organised, have great attention to detail and be enthusiastic, and self-driven. You will be forward-thinking, and confident yet approachable. You will be comfortable working at pace across multiple projects.

Essential:

  • experience using website analytics software like Google Analytics 4
  • experience using data visualisation software like Looker Studio or PowerBI
  • excellent written English skills, with the ability to explain complex analyses in plain language
  • excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • understanding of the commercial needs of projects and clients
  • the ability to build strong relationships with clients based on their trust in you and your empathy to their needs

Desirable:

  • degree in Mathematics or a related subject
  • experience using website tagging software like Google Tag Manager
  • experience using SQL, Python or R
  • familiarity with Agile working
  • familiarity with regular expressions
  • keen to follow industry developments and learn new skills
  • experience with Scotland’s Digital Scotland Service Standard
  • confidence to communicate opinions and rationale
  • understanding of obligations under PECR and GDPR
  • respectfulness to adjust opinion considering the reasonable needs and opinions of others

You’ll also be:

  • a strategic thinker, able to see the broad picture to how analytics fits an organisation’s business needs
  • great at engaging with colleagues and clients and negotiating mutually beneficial solutions to project requirements
  • comfortable working on cross-functional project teams

What you'll do

No two days will be the same. Here’s some examples of what your role will involve:

  • collect and analyse data
  • plan and deliver data reporting and insights
  • develop and manage data visualisations
  • designing measurement frameworks for digital services
  • testing and auditing data Google Analytics 4 implementations
  • work with developers to implement, test and remediate tracking code
  • conduct experiments with data to explore datasets
  • investigate datasets to investigate data quality and bias
  • learn about basic model development strategies
  • appraise data technologies
