Case Studies
Trinity Mirror wanted to seize an opportunity to create a new revenue stream by allowing private, trade and car dealerships to advertise their cars online under the popular ‘Daily Record’ brand.
To entice dealerships to offer their stock into this new venture in a competitive market, Trinity Mirror knew they needed to provide a cutting edge solution, with unique selling points to attract the large audiences such a site demands.
It was crucial that we were able to process the vast amount of data from car dealers across Scotland. We made this possible by creating a comprehensive feed processing system that accommodated widely used feed formats.
We equipped the site with top of the range search functions including predictive suggest, natural language parsing and facetted search. Automatic spelling correction, location filtering and suggested searches enhanced usability and were combined with other discovery methods such as top searches and tag clouds.
Buyers can set up notifications to receive details about the latest suitable cars directly to their mobile phone or email account. In fact, for those on the move we developed a dedicated mobile version of the entire site, also supporting video uploads for sellers’ convenience.
In the current climate, Road Record serves as a welcome relief to Scottish consumers looking for a better deal online.
Our success with this project is an integral part of our wider relationship with Trinity Mirror, and has fostered and understanding leading to our development of other large-scale web projects, such as Local Mole.
Of the many agencies I have worked with over the last 15 years, Storm ID stand head and shoulders above the competition. Their client, project and product management competencies are all first rate but where they stand out is in the depth of knowledge of all members of the Storm ID team - there a few agencies who have a cross disciplinary team with as much knowledge.
